Growing up and getting into punk rock, I never knew if these guys were serious or not. They seemed so cartoonish and a caricature. Evidently, they were for real and they came out with some decent music (lyrics were garbage though).

Crass-Penis Envy (1981)

Crass was just fucking musically horrendous. Even for punk rock, they were just horrible. The production on their albums were often equally horrid. Sometimes sounds like an old tape being eaten in your stereo while some type of electrical interference combines with it to create a godawful sound.

That being said, a lot of their essay-like lyrics were pretty good, even if they were a bunch of vegan, pacifist, individualist lifestylist dicks (no pun intended).
